Warrenville man fit for trial in sex case

A Warrenville man accused of sexually assaulting a girl younger than 13 more than a decade ago has been found fit to stand trial.

Adrian Ramirez-Alcantar, who turns 30 Saturday, was arrested earlier this year on charges that he had sex with a girl younger than 13 between May 2000 and May 2002, according to police and court records.

If convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault, he faces up to 30 years in prison.

Alcantar appeared in court Friday before Kane County Judge David Akemann.

Dr. Tim Brown of the Kane County Diagnostic Center concluded that Alcantar was fit to stand trial and both the prosecutor and the public defender accepted Brown’s findings, according to court records.

Alcantar is due in court again Jan. 6 and a trial date could be set.

He’s been held at the Kane County jail on $3 million bail since his arrest in February.
