Mundelein man gets 3½ years prison for child molesting

A Mundelein man was sentenced to 3½ years in prison Wednesday for molesting a 13-year-old girl.

After imposing the sentence, Lake County Circuit Judge Fred Foreman told Aguileo Guzman, 41, he is likely to be deported to his native Mexico for the third time once he has completed the prison term.

Assistant State’s Attorney Reginald Mathews said the girl was visiting Guzman’s residence in the 300 block of Walnut during the afternoon of May 26.

Guzman found the girl alone in a room, forced her to the floor and began to molest her.

The girl’s screams alerted other teens in Guzman’s apartment, and they came into the room and pulled Guzman away from the girl.

She told her grandfather about the attack a few days later and her grandfather called Mundelein police.

Guzman admitted the attack and told police he had been drinking since early in the morning on the day it occurred.

He pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, which carries a maximum of seven years in prison.

Matthews said Guzman was deported in 2001 and again in 2004 after convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol.
