Aurora man charged with stalking ex-girlfriend
An Aurora man who tried unsuccessfully to reunite with his ex-girlfriend has been charged with stalking, St. Charles police said Friday.
Lance A. Johnson, 27, of the 2300 block of Nan Street in Aurora, contacted his 29-year-old former girlfriend, who lives in St. Charles, in October upon being released from the Kane County Correctional Facility, where he had served a one-month sentence on an unrelated matter.
When she declined to have further contact with Johnson, he slashed the tires on her vehicle on three occasions — Oct. 28, Oct. 31 and Nov. 4, according to police.
Authorities said Johnson then called the victim to ask if she needed a ride to work, but she told him that her brother would drive her. Soon after, the tires on the brother’s car were found slashed.
On Nov. 7, the victim’s brother found the driver’s side window of his sister’s vehicle had been smashed. Witnesses reported seeing reported seeing Johnson and his vehicle in the area when the damage occurred, authorities said.
Police also say Johnson called the victim several times to tell her he was watching her drive around town.
Johnson is charged with two felony counts of stalking and one felony count of criminal damage to property. He was taken into custody early Wednesday while trying to flee through a bathroom window at his home.
He is being held on $80,000 bond at the Kane County Correctional Facility.
