Palatine man gets jail time in DUI accident case

A Palatine man who police say turned his vehicle into an oncoming lane and struck another car head-on last July has pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI.

A Cook County judge last week sentenced Noe Hernandez, 36, of the 1500 block of Crimson Lane, to one year in prison in exchange for Hernandez’s guilty plea.

Police said Hernandez struck the other vehicle shortly after 1 a.m. on July 24 while driving on Algonquin Road between Arbor Drive and Frontage Road.

Hernandez fled the accident scene but was located by Schaumburg police a short time later, prosecutors said during Hernandez’s bond hearing.

Two passengers in the other car were unhurt, said prosecutors. However, they say a passenger in Hernandez’s car suffered a dislocated hip.
