Fox Valley Rep collects donations to help make it 'A Wonderful Life' for those in need

Fox Valley Repertory has partnered with the Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice of Geneva to collect donations during "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" performances to help enhance the quality of life for those with life-threatening illnesses and the bereaved.

Patrons will have the opportunity to contribute to the cause after each performance, now taking place through Dec. 23 at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles; box office (630) 584-6342.

Currently the largest volunteer hospice in the world and having served over 15,000 patients and their famlies, Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice aims to provide care to the whole person and entire family that are affected by a life threatening illness or the loss of a loved one. It provides an avenue for individuals to give back to their community. Volunteers are the heart of Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice. Nearly 400 active volunteers work directly with their staff to provide support to hospice patients and their families as well as grief support to the bereaved.

When patrons come to Fox Valley Rep to celebrate the classic, fateful story about life, love, family and redemption in the style of a 1940s radio-style play, they will have a chance to contribute to this cause after the show.

“Hospice is an invaluable, compassionate service that has personally helped my family when we needed it most,” says Fox Valley Rep Artistic Director John Gawlik. “I am very proud to partner with this organization.”

“FVVH is equally proud to partner with Fox Valley Repertory on this fundraiser. As a volunteer hospice, we receive no state or federal funding, Medicare or insurance payments," says FVVH Development Director Kathy Melone. “This fundraiser will significantly help us provide services to those in need within the community, free of charge.”

Proceeds will also benefit the Performing Arts Academy students so that they can have continued opportunities to explore their lives through the performing arts. One of the many ways FVR helps students is through their scholarship programs, helping local aspiring performers in financial need.
