Police: Intoxicated, unlicensed driver hits Bartlett squad car
A Bartlett police officer was injured when an intoxicated driver drove onto a median and struck the squad car head-on Saturday night, according to police.
Ismael Flores, 26, of West Chicago was charged with driving under the influence after crashing into the officer’s vehicle on Route 20, police said.
The officer was stopped on the raised median along Route 20 backing up another officer during a traffic stop when Flores drove onto the median and struck the vehicle, according to police.
Emergency crews arrived at the crash at around 11:45 p.m. and took both Flores and the officer to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates with minor injuries. Both were released Sunday morning, according to police.
Flores, who lives on the 700 block of Elizabeth Street, was also charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance and improper lane usage, according to police.
