Hawks' Patrick Kane a big fan of Mikita, Hull

Now that Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull finally have their statues outside the United Center, are there any Blackhawks next in line?

Not unless you consider Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane to be candidates way down the road thanks to the way their Hawks careers have started.

Toews, 23, and Kane, 22, already have won as many Stanley Cups as Hull and Mikita and will threaten many of the Hall of Famers' scoring records should they be Hawks the rest of their careers.

Kane laughed at the suggestion he might have a statue someday.

“I'm just trying to get back on the scoresheet after two games,” Kane joked before Saturday's game against Colorado. “I'm not really worry about a statue, to be honest with you.”

Kane is a Hull and Mikita fan, just like everyone else, even though he never got to see them play. Kane's dad and grandfather have told him all about their greatness.

“My grandpa actually knows a lot of the days of Bobby and Stan,” Kane said. “For him to remember that and tell me stories that you actually can look up and say were true is pretty cool.”

Kane said the players enjoy having Hull and Mikita around the team telling stories.

“Bobby likes to talk about his slap shot, we all know that,” Kane said. “He said one time it was clocked at 118 mph. I don't know how they clocked it back then, but that's Bobby speaking for you.”

Good to go:Marian Hossa was in the lineup against the Avs after sitting out Friday's practice.Expect Hossa to get a lot of days off between games to rest the upper-body injury that has been nagging him.#8220;If there was a game (Friday), I definitely would play, but sometimes it's smarter instead of just going 20 minutes on the ice to do something in the gym and take care of your body in a different way,#8221; Hossa said.Making strides:After a slow start at training camp, Steve Montador has been averaging a solid 15 minutes on defense and was plus-3 going into Saturday's game against Colorado.#8220;He's really progressed,#8221; coach Joel Quenneville said. #8220;His training camp was ordinary, but once the regular season started his play picked up. Defensively he's responsible, he gives us some quickness out of our end, has a big shot off the point and looks to make plays as well.#8220;Overall that pair (with Sean O'Donnell) has been very steady for us, which is what we were looking for.#8221;He likes it:Patrick Kane has no problem with the nickname linemate Daniel Carcillo has hung on him #8212; #8220;Biebs,#8221; as in pop idol Justin Bieber.#8220;I like it, actually,#8221; Kane said. #8220;A lot of girls like him.#8221;Big number:The sellout Saturday was the Hawks' 150th straight at the United Center.
