Woman bound, beaten in North Aurora home invasion

A 44-year-old woman was bound with duct tape by two suspects during a home invasion Friday morning in North Aurora, authorities said.

North Aurora police said a man entered the victim’s home on the 100 block of Elm Street before 9 a.m. and displayed a handgun. A struggle ensued, and the woman was struck several times in the head and knocked to the floor.

The man and his accomplice bound the woman’s hands behind her back and covered her eyes with tape, according to police.

One of the suspects removed a gold necklace the woman was wearing, then the men left, police said.

The victim was able to free herself and ran outside for help. A passer-by alerted a police officer that the woman needed help, police said.

The victim suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening; she was not sexually assaulted or abused, police said. She was taken to Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora for treatment.

It’s not known if anything else was stolen from the woman’s home.

One suspect is described as a short white male, in his late teens or early 20s, wearing sunglasses and a dark jacket with a hood. There was no description of the second subject. They may be driving a large, dark blue SUV, such as a Suburban, Tahoe or Escalade.

North Aurora police are investigating. Anyone with information should call (630) 897-8705, ext. 610.
