Real estate broker to run for Lake County Board

A real estate broker with no history of major elected office history has announced his candidacy for the District 13 seat on the Lake County Board.

Jay Krasne of Gurnee hopes that lack of ties to politics will appeal to voters in the district, which includes parts of Gages Lake, Gurnee, Waukegan, North Chicago and Lake Bluff.

“Career politicians have simply failed us,” Krasne said in a statement.

He credits his business perspective and experience of living in 10 municipalities in nine counties in four Midwestern states as major positives that he will bring to the board.

Krasne lists himself as a member of the Lake County tea party and has previously served as an election judge and precinct committeeman.

Krasne graduated from Downers Grove North High School in 1972 and earned a degree in political science from Bradley University in Peoria.

He has worked as a licensed real estates broker in Illinois since 1995.
