Mussman to host tax appeal seminar Oct. 11

Democratic state Rep. Michelle Mussman of Schaumburg and the Cook County Assessor’s Office will host a property tax appeal seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the cafeteria of Jane Addams Junior High School at 700 S. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg.

Homeowners should bring their assessment notices and staff from the Cook County Assessor’s Office will be on hand to answer questions and assist in filing appeals. All appeals must be submitted to the Cook County Assessor’s Office by Oct. 14.

“Residents in our communities are frustrated with the high property taxes we are paying in Cook County during a time when our home values have dropped significantly and the economy is struggling to recover,” Mussman said. “I remain committed to standing up for homeowners by fighting for property tax fairness, and I encourage all those interested in filing an appeal to stop by our event on Tuesday.”
