Reduce, Reuse, Recycle poster contest winners chosen

Students at Waterbury Elementary School and Spring Wood Middle School were invited to participate in a “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” poster contest that was sponsored by First Eagle Bank in conjunction with the village of Hanover Park and the Hanover Park Environmental Committee, with the support of SCARCE.

The poster contest was held to help promote the Hanover Park Annual Recycling Event that was held on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Fifty-nine posters were submitted which represented the artwork of 89 students. The posters were previewed at First Eagle Bank, where bank employees voted to select the winning posters. The posters were then moved to Hanover Park Village Hall to the STAAR (STudent Artists and AuthoRS) Gallery Hall for the opening night Student Art Exhibit which was held Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Prizes were awarded to the three winners from Waterbury: Arianna Alvarez, Rinna Talwar and Sean Kennedy; and the three winners from Spring Wood: Robert Kincanon, Michael Klinkner and Kamila Gardocki.

The Hanover Park Environmental Committee selected the artwork of Kamila Gardocki to be used in promotion of next year’s 2012 Hanover Park Recycling Event.

The six winning posters will remain on display at the Hanover Park Village Hall, and the remaining 53 posters will be on display at the Hanover Park Park District. The posters are very impressive, creative and informative, and are well worth a trip to village hall and the park district to view.
