Police say no foul play in Hoffman Estates infant death

Hoffman Estates police said Friday that foul play is not suspected in the death of a 3-month-old girl who was found unresponsive in her home early Wednesday. On Thursday, an autopsy was inconclusive, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Authorities said further testing needs to be done to determine the cause of death. Hoffman Estates police said they are trying to determine if the death was due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or was accidental. The Department of Children and Family Services also is continuing to investigate, spokesman Kendall Marlowe said. The girl was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Hoffman Estates shortly after paramedics found her unresponsive in her home.
