Milwaukee museum gets prize from Super Bowl wager

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Art Museum will soon be displaying its prize from the Pittsburgh art museum for its wager on the Super Bowl.

In January, Milwaukee Art Museum Director Daniel Keegan and Carnegie Museum of Art Director Lynn Zelevansky wagered on who would win the game between the Packers and the Steelers.

Keegan bet “Boating on the Yerres” by Gustave Caillebotte. Zelevansky wagered “Bathers with Crab,” by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

The Packers defeated the Steelers 31-25 and the Milwaukee museum won. The two museums have been working out dates for the loan to Milwaukee.

“Bathers with Crab,” will be shown as part of Milwaukee’s new exhibit “Impressionism: Masterworks on Paper,” which starts Oct. 14.
