Police looking for leads to more possible shooters in rural Indiana deaths

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are following up on tips after arresting a person of interest in the killing of five people in rural southeast Indiana, trying to determine if anyone else might have been involved in the shootings.

Indiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Jerry Goodin said Thursday that investigators won’t stop until they know they have found everyone who was involved in the slayings in Laurel, about 50 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

On Wednesday, authorities arrested a man with a lengthy criminal record on an unrelated charge. He is not charged in the killings. Goodin says the arrest resulted from a tip, and police are still investigating tips about other people who may have been involved.

The victims — four family members and a neighbor — were found Sunday.
