Aurora opens new riverwalk section

A new section of riverwalk in front of Waubonsee Community College in downtown Aurora officially opened Tuesday.

The section includes a walkway at street level funded by Waubonsee, a pedestrian walk under Galena Boulevard and a walkway at the river level funded with $800,000 from the city of Aurora, said Alderman Mike Saville, chairman of the Riverwalk Commission.

Aurora’s riverwalk has been coming together since the commission was formed in 1988, and developers are expected to add more sections south of downtown.
