Grayslake FedEx opens

FedEx Ground will debut its new facility in Grayslake on Thursday morning. The facility is at 1260 Rowena Road, a new street off Route 83 north of Peterson Road. FedEx Ground is the small-package ground unit of FedEx Corp. Its Grayslake facility covers 214,000 square feet for package sorting and delivery station. Officials said the workforce at opening includes more than 200 full-time and part-time employees and could grow to almost 500 when the facility is operating at capacity. The new Grayslake facility features the latest automated material handling technology for sorting packages and dispatching up to 130 vans per day to make deliveries in the area.
