Vehicle hits Maywood home, kills sleeping teen

Authorities are investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl killed when a car driven by a man who had been shot crashed into the Maywood home where she’d been sleeping.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office says the accident killed Dominique Thomas of Maywood.

Authorities say Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene early Tuesday after the driver lost control and the vehicle hit the building, landing on top of the teen and her 12-year-old brother. He’s in stable condition at a Maywood hospital.

Police say the accident happened when the driver of a Hyundai Elantra was shot nearby. Authorities report that the driver says his male passenger fled after the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
