Lake County housing grant:

Lake County Housing Authority has received a share of $15 million handed out by the federal government. The authority got $222,561 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help public housing and Section 8 participants find jobs. The money from HUD’s Public and Indian Housing Family Self-Sufficiency Program will allow the Lake County agency to maintain program coordinators who work directly with participants to connect them with local education and training opportunities, job placement organizations and local employers. “Family self-sufficiency programs have a proven track record of helping families succeed,” HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan said in a news release. “When families are given the tools they need to join a skilled workforce, they move beyond HUD’s rental assistance programs to self-sufficiency.”
