Understand your tax assessment:

A series of public meetings to include one-on-one assistance regarding the property tax assessment process have been scheduled through mid-November. The next sessions are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 and the College of Lake County’s Southlake Campus on Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills, and at the same time on Thursday, Oct. 6, at the University Center on Washington Street in Grayslake. A full schedule, as well as information on assessment notices, property tax relief and local contacts are available at the chief county assessor’s website, www.lakecountyil.gov/assessor. The site has a comparable search tool, interactive mapping and other resources to explain the complicated process.
