<h3 class="briefHead">"Person of interest" in Naperville murder extradited to Illinois</h3>

The brother and "person of interest" of a Naperville woman whose murder remains unsolved will appear in court today on forgery charges. Mark R. Lewis, 51, of Lakemoor was arrested in Florida on July 14, and was recently extradited back to Illinois to face the forgery charges involving his mother's bank account. Naperville Police have not been able to interview Lewis since Cathleen Lewis was found beaten to death in June. Full story.

<h3 class="briefHead">Kane County court needs money to feed jurors</h3>

Will Kane County jurors go hungry? Kane County Chief Judge F. Keither Brown has requested an extra $192,000 to avoid a budget shortfall, with about $33,000 of that needed to feed jurors during jury duty. County board members questioned the move, asking why the county assumes the cost of feeding jurors at all. Most of the food for jurors is supplied by an in-house restaurant at a cost of about $5 per meal. Full story.

A new book by a former Johnson & Johnson employee suggests the Tylenol poisonings, which killed seven people in the Chicago area in 1982, took place in the company's production or distribution channels, and company executives and federal agencies steered the investigation in the wrong direction. <h3 class="briefHead">Naperville man charged with reckless homicide's death ruled a suicide</h3>

An autopsy on Naperville man who drove into oncoming traffic on I-88 causing a crash that killed to Elmhurst residents indicated that he took his own life Friday at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. William A. Howe, 43, was charged with reckless homicide after the Aug. 6 crash near Lisle and had been hospitalized with serious injuries since. The Cook County medical examiner's office said Howe had Huntington's disease, which his attorney said "may have contributed to the cause of" the crash. Full story.

<h3 class="briefHead">Hanover Park mayor wants criminal illegal aliens held</h3>

Hanover Park Mayor Ron Craig is upset over a recent Cook County ordinance that requiring sheriff's officers to release suspected illegal immigrants accused of committing serious felonies from jail if they can post bond, even if federal authorities want them detained for possible deportation. Expect a rainy and stormy start to your Monday with showers and wind to continue throughout the day. Many suburban thoroughfares are becoming congested as Monday morning continues. Eastbound I-90 backs up from Barrington Road to Roselle Road and again from Arlington Heights Road to the loop. Eastbound I-88 is slow from Orchard Road to I-355. The Tri-State is congested in both directions from I-290 to Roosevelt Road. Look to avoid IL-173 at West Grimm Road in Antioch and IL-176 at Roberts Road in Island Lake because of accidents and US-41 in Gurnee between Depot Road and Delany Road because of flooding. <h3 class="briefHead">Forte gains two yards in Bears loss</h3>

In a rematch of last year's NFC Championship game, Bears fans witnessed another similar sight yesterday - a complete lack of a running game. The 27-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers was the lowest rushing total by a Bears team since at least 1960. The nine running plays called for Matt Forte totaled just 2 yards. The only other ball carrier of the day was Jay Cutler who scrambled for 11 total yards on three plays. "I don't believe in balance," wide receiver Roy Williams said. "New England doesn't believe in balance. They throw the ball all across the field, and they win." Full story.

<h3 class="briefHead">Cards beat Cubs in late playoff push</h3>

The St. Louis Cardinals took down the Cubs yesterday during a late season push to grab the wild-car spot in the National League. Rafael Furcal hit a tiebreaking home run in the eight inning to pull the Cardinals to within one game of the Atlanta Braves for the last playoff spot. Starlin Castro extended his consecutive games on base streak to 37 games and leads the NL with 203 hits. The 3-2 victory over the Cubs was the Cardinals 15th win in their last 20 games. <h3 class="briefHead">Coach Q: Kane to try playing center</h3>

Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville threw reporters a wild-card after last night's 4-3 shootout loss at Detroit, indicating that star winger Patrick Kane is going to play the remaining preseason games at center. Kane his almost exclusively played right wing since he was drafted with the Hawks' first overall pick, but right now only Jonathan Toews and Dave Bolland are the only sure locks at center. The White Sox' 2-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals has ensured the team will finish below the 500 mark this season. The team's 82nd defeat means manager Ozzie Guillen will have a losing season for the third time in his eight-year tenure with the team. Starting pitcher Gavin Floyd pitched six hitless innings for the Sox, just a day after John Danks was perfect for 4 2/3 innings. Full story.
