Guillen bummed about how White Sox played in 2011

With just three games left in the season and speculation growing that he won’t be back as White Sox manager in 2012, Ozzie Guillen is likely to display a range of emotions before the final out is recorded.

As he looks back on a disappointing season, Guillen said he is more sad than angry.

“A lot of people think the expectations out there were high,” Guillen said. “Well, my expectations were higher. Disappointing? Yeah. I’m more sad than mad. And I’d rather be mad than sad because when I’m mad I can get that thing out of my chest quick. But when you’re sad, you’re just like, ‘Man, what went wrong?’

“People want to ask, ‘What went wrong?’ Everything went wrong. Don’t just point the finger to one or two guys, three guys, four guys. Everything went wrong, and I’m a big part of that.

“My coaches, myself, the players, we can sit here and try to figure out what went wrong. It’s easy to say everything went wrong, but it’s tough to figure out what went right.”

Dunn doings:Adam Dunn was hearing the boos again Sunday at U.S. Cellular Field while going 0-for-3 with 2 strikeouts.It#146;s been an #147;embarrassing#148; season, as Dunn has said countless times.The White Sox#146; designated hitter is batting .161, but Dunn might not post the lowest average ever in a post-1900 season due to plate appearances.Qualified hitters need 502 plate appearances and Dunn is at 493 with three games to play.In 1991, Rob Deer batted .179 for the Tigers, the lowest average in major-league history.Dunn said he#146;ll do more baseball activities in the off-season, but nothing too drastic.#147;After this year, I think he learned a lesson,#148; manager Ozzie Guillen said. #147;I don#146;t think because he had a bad year he has to do something; I think because he#146;s getting older he#146;s got to prepare himself better. I don#146;t think he#146;s going to change his swing from one month to another.#147;Next year, I expect him to be in a better frame of mind to start spring training. I never, ever, ever tell the player what to do in the winter. They#146;re professional, they#146;re getting paid pretty good money and they should be preparing themselves from the first day of spring training.#148;Strong finish:In his final start of the season, Gavin Floyd pitched 8 innings against the Royals Sunday and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits. Floyd was working on a no-hitter before Lorenzo Cain led off the sixth inning with a single.The White Sox#146; offense was shut down again, so Floyd took the loss and finishes the year at 12-13 with a 4.37 ERA.#147;I feel pretty good,#148; Floyd said. #147;Statistically, I don#146;t know if it#146;s everything I wanted it to be. But I made it through the season healthy and I think I made some progress trying to be consistent with my pitches. It#146;s just nice to be healthy through the whole season.#148;Floyd was shut down early the last two years with hip and shoulder injuries.Rios dinged:Alex Rios had to come out of Sunday#146;s game against the Royals after making a standout catch to rob Billy Butler of extra bases in the fourth inning.Rios hit the fence after running down Butler#146;s deep drive.#147;Alex is fine,#148; manager Ozzie Guillen said. #147;He got hit pretty well and he was a little dizzy. He won#146;t play tomorrow and after that we#146;ll see how he is and go from there.#148;At a loss:With Sunday#146;s loss to the Royals, the White Sox (77-82) have no chance to finish .500.In eight seasons with the Sox, manager Ozzie Guillen now has three losing records.#147;It was a losing team when I got the X next to my name,#148; Guillen said of the Sox officially being eliminated from the playoffs on Sept. 15. #147;I#146;m not here for stats; I#146;m here to win the division.#148;
