Firm pressing ahead with plans for wind farm

QUINCY -- Plans are still under way for a wind farm in western Illinois' Adams County.

A New York-based venture says it's pressing ahead with a proposed $300 million wind farm even though a partner has pulled out of the project.

Acciona Energy withdrew months ago from the Prairie Mills Wind Farm plan to put 96 wind turbines in the county.

But Global Wind Harvest's vice president, Erich Bachmeyer, tells the Quincy Herald-Whig (http://bit.ly/qHphcl) that business is working out a new joint venture that could be hashed out within weeks.

Building an Adams County wind farm has been a topic since 2008 but drew opposition last year, with several communities adopting buffer zones restricting placement of any turbines.

Global Wind Harvest has not yet submitted a permit application to Adams County.
