Huntley boys golfers on a roll

The Huntley boys golf team has had quite a week.

The Red Raiders clinched no worse than a tie for their first conference championship earlier in the week and then on Saturday won the championship of the 15th Fran Noyes Invitational at The Oak Club of Genoa.

Ryan Craig set a course record for the Red Raiders, holing 8 birdies in a row on his way to a 6-under par 65. That led Huntley to 119 points in the tournament, which is scored by the modified Stableford System. Craig’s 50 individual points was the highest score of any golfer in the 15 years of the tournament.

Mason Wicks scored 23 points for Huntley, Garrett Chmiola 20, AJ Fanselow 17 and Eric Luecht 12.

Sandwich was second and Rockford Lutheran third in the 24-team tournament.
