3 years for motorcycle theft in Kaneville

A 24-year-old Maple Park man recently was sentenced to three years in prison for his part in a string of thefts in Kaneville in 2010.

Denis P. Walsh, of the 49W900 block of Peterson Road, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle in exchange for Kane County prosecutors dismissing eight other felonies and five misdemeanor charges against him.

Judge Patricia Golden accepted the plea deal, which also requires Walsh to pay $2,907 in restitution to two victims..

Authorities said that Walsh entered a garage along Harter Road and stole a 2005 Honda motorcycle during the early morning hours on April 20.

Walsh was involved in the theft of property from about a dozen neighboring homes, authorities said.

Walsh, whose previous criminal record included a guilty plea to battery and fleeing and eluding Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies in an October 2007 incident, can have his sentenced halved for good behavior.
