Living wall tour:

Friends of Ryerson Woods will host a tour of the new “North Shore Gas Living Wall” at the Greenbelt Cultural Center, the first living wall in the Midwest, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. The tour will be guided by local green architect Bill Sturm, who designed the Ryerson Woods Welcome Center and the Greenbelt Cultural Center renovation, and Canadian research scientist Alan Darling. Darling invented this vertical garden technology, which improves air quality, energy efficiency and building acoustics. Participants will meet at the Greenbelt Cultural Center, 1215 Green Bay Road. Cost is $15 ($10 Friends of Ryerson Woods members). For information, call (847) 968-3321, or visit www.ryersonwoods.org. Friends of Ryerson Woods is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to build an environmental ethic in our region through education and outreach.
