Carmel tops Vernon Hills

Carmel d. Vernon Hills: At White Deer Run, the visiting Corsairs (150) received 1-over 37s from Tommy Schofield, Brian Miller and Mike Wilkinson as Carmel topped Vernon Hills 150-161.

Nathan Lee added a 39 for Carmel Catholic.

Vernon Hills (161) got a 37 from Eric Swanson, who was the only Cougar to break 40.

Mundelein d. Lake Zurich: At Foxford Hills Golf Club in Cary, the Mustangs (154) won the North Suburban Lake Division match going away.

A day after shooting a 44 on his home course, Steeple Chase, Mundelein sophomore Derek Parola was medalist with a 1-over 37.

“He stepped it up over the summer and has been putting up a lot of good scores for us,” Mundelein’s Grant Heelan said of Parola after Tuesday’s match against Zion-Benton. “He’s been helping the team stay together after we lost about 10 seniors.”

Mundelein also got a 38 from David Krueger, a 39 from Heelan and a 40 from Brady Witt.

Lake Zurich (176) was paced by Doug Murphy’s 43.

Grayslake North d. Grant: At Renwood Golf Course, the host Knights won the tiebreaker thanks to Ryan Kirkpatrick’s fifth score (45).

Both teams carded a 163 in the nonconference dual.

Grayslake North’s Anthony Harrop was medalist with a 2-over 38. The Knights also counted Christian DiBerardino’s 41, Andres Avila’s 42 and Sam Stanfel’s 42.

Cody Volpe’s 39 led Grant. The Bulldogs also got 41s from Branden Weber and Richard Huber and a 42 from Dylan Jay.
