Barrington fire district to host an open house

The board of trustees of the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District invite residents to experience a behind the-scenes glimpse of fire department operations, explore equipment and facilities, and learn how firefighters and paramedics serve the community during the department’s annual open house from 9 a.m. — noon Saturday, Sept. 24.

The free event will be held at the Barrington Public Safety Building, 400 N. Northwest Hwy.

The open house will let family members of all ages:

Ÿ Observe the Barrington Fire Department’s proud tradition of serving communities that comprise the BCFPD.

Ÿ Climb aboard the department’s fleet of engines, ambulances, trucks and tenders.

Ÿ Learn about fire, bicycle and railroad safety.

Ÿ Meet and talk with firefighters, paramedics, fire department officials and district trustees.

Ÿ Enjoy complimentary refreshments.

Ÿ Say hello to Sparky the Fire Dog.

Barrington Fire Chief James Arie encourages district residents and business owners to attend the open house. It is an opportunity to view state-of-the-art life-saving technology, meet the firefighters who protect their communities, and see how their tax dollars support fire suppression and emergency medical services.
