Fall trout fishing season starts next month

Officials with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources say the fall trout season starts Oct. 15 at 37 ponds and lakes statewide.

More than 70,000 trout are stocked a those locations.

Marc Miller is the director of the natural resources department. He says no trout can be taken from the stocked locations from Oct. 1 until the start of the fall season.

An Illinois sport fishing license with an inland trout stamp is required for anglers 16 and older.

There's a five-trout-per-day limit.
