Military academy nominations

U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh announced he is accepting applications for nominations to attend one of the United States service academies in 2012. Eligible applicants must be United States citizens, at least 17 and not more than 23 years of age on July 1, 2012, unmarried, not pregnant, have no dependents, of good moral character, and legal residents of the 8th Congressional District of Illinois. Applications may be completed for: the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Col.; the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y. The completed application for nomination must be received by Oct. 21. Candidates must also complete the individual academy applications online and meet the required deadlines.
