Ÿ A Texas woman who recently moved to Illinois to join her husband suspects that while she was in jail, her cousin used her debit card without her permission and made $1,491.74 in unauthorized transactions, with more pending, police said Sunday. According to reports, the U.S. Border Patrol arrested the victim in Texas earlier this month and she remained in custody from Sept. 4 until Friday, reports said. Before she went to jail, she turned all of her valuables over to her cousin, including her debit card, and asked her cousin to mail everything to the victim’s husband in Illinois, police said. The husband received everything from the cousin except the debit card, reports said.

Ÿ Kelly B. Ahn, 19, of the 4600 block of Whitehall Court, Algonquin, was charged with retail theft Saturday for stealing $62 worth of jewelry from the Kohl’s inside Spring Hill Mall, police said. She faces another charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, because police found a glass pipe and a container that each contained a small amount of marijuana, reports said. Ahn was released from jail on her signature. Her court information was not available.

Ÿ Nancy Espinoza, 38, of Belvidere, has been charged with felony retail theft and obstructing identification, stemming from the theft Friday of $341 of undergarments from Kohl’s within Spring Hill Mall and giving a bogus name to police, reports said. She was released after posting $500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 29 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Ÿ A wallet was reported stolen sometime between 3 and 4:15 p.m. Sunday from Meijer, 815 S. Randall Road, according to police reports. A woman had it in her purse in her cart when she entered the store but couldn’t find it later when she had to pay, reports said. Someone tried to use her credit card and bank card later that day, reports said.

Kane County

Ÿ Two several-hundred gallon tanks, which were partially filled with gasoline and diesel fuel, were stolen between 7 a.m. Sept. 5 and 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 from a field in the 16N400 block of Route 20 near Hampshire, sheriff reports said.
