Thanks for making car show a success

I would like to thank the people who helped make our fifth annual charity car show a success. This year’s beneficiary was Special Olympics Illinois. We are still tallying the numbers and awaiting money that was pledged, but it appears we will be able to present Special Olympics Illinois with at least $6,000.

Special thanks to the Martin family for allowing us to use their beautiful farm. This event is made possible by employees of our office, the Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni and friends who help through volunteer efforts. Also, our financial sponsors who made our show possible — Paul Knowlton of Reliance Machine and Tool in Elgin, Dan Morrissey and Evan Raymon of Executive Affiliates in Big Rock, Bob Black of Black’s Auto Rebuilders in Geneva, Harley Veldhuisen of Harley’s Sanitation Service, Chris Rady of Aramark Industries, Wexford, IBEW Local 117, and Mortenson Construction.

This show is mainly possible because of the automobile enthusiasts who enter their vehicles in our show, many of whom have attended all five years. Last, there are two people who have extended themselves on behalf of our show: Gordy Deuchler, who sought donations and has helped promote the show; and Jim Burden of the St. Charles Police Department, who provided photography.

We are already looking forward to next year’s show, which will benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
