Hot finish should put Wilson in Player of the Year mix

Player of the Year on the PGA Tour could not be more up for grabs.

With that in mind, second-round co-leader Mark Wilson was asked if he wins the BMW Championship for his third victory of the season, should he be part of the equation?

“I do, yeah,” Wilson said. “That would put me with the most wins of anybody, then going into East Lake (for the Tour Championship) if I can take another one there, I think I’d have a good argument.

“That’s a lot of ifs. Should I say when?”

Aussie pressure:The only player in the final three pairings who has won at Cog Hill is Robert Allenby, the 2000 champion.Allenby followed his opening round 69 with a 67 on Friday and is tied for fifth, and that#146;s exactly where he has to finish in order to advance to the Tour Championship and possibly make the President#146;s Cup team.#147;I know what I#146;ve got to do,#148; Allenby said. #147;So far, so good.#148;As for John Senden (currently fourth), the pressure is really on: only a victory this week gets him a spot on the President#146;s Cup team.#147;I don#146;t like to look at leaderboards a lot, but I know what I have to do,#148; Senden said. #147;If I can get that done, that#146;s a feather in the cap.#148;Early to rise on Saturday:Don#146;t forget that players will tee off super early Saturday morning #8212; beginning around 7:30 a.m. #8212; in order to accommodate Notre Dame football on NBC.The Fighting Irish (0-2) host Michigan State (2-0) at 2:30 p.m.The folks at Cog Hill will be showing the game live on the big screens located at the BMW Experience Center and will also be offering 2-for-1 food and drink specials during the action. #147;A bunch of kids ruling the show? What#146;s going on?#148; joked co-leader Justin Rose. #147;It#146;s something I#146;ve never experienced, but it#146;s fascinating to see how big these games are and the attendance they get and the TV ratings. It#146;s just phenomenal.#148;Holy turnaround, Batman:In Thursday#146;s opening round, the grouping of Jason Day (77), Luke Donald (75) and Brandt Snedeker (71) combined for 223 total shots. On Friday, they shot 65, 66 and 66, respectively, for a 26-stroke difference.
