‘Remembrance’ was soul stirring

Sunday, I attended the 9/11 memorial concert “In Remembrance” at the Lake Zurich High School Auditorium.

Performing were the Combined Lake Zurich High School Choirs, directed by Nick Juknelis, and the Lake Zurich High School Wind Ensemble directed by Josh Thompson. Jan Horvath, a featured soloist and composer from New York, preformed two of her original pieces. Our high school students led the way for us, presenting an emotional, soul-stirring program recognizing our active military, veterans, and first responders (police and fire personnel).

The music was respectful, patriotic, thoughtful and hopeful. The fine selection of musical pieces and readings was surpassed only by the performances of our singers and musicians.

On behalf of the residents of the Village of Lake Zurich, thank you to all who organized, planned and participated in this wonderful memorial program that was so appropriate for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. You performed a wonderful service for our community and captured the emotions of the day so well.
