Kraft, Abbott one of working mother's '100 best'

Working Mother has named Northfield-based Kraft Foods to its list of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” for the sixth consecutive year. Abbott Labs in Libertyville Township, also made the list.

Kraft made the list because it offers flexible scheduling for employees and has several family-friendly policies, including:

Ÿ Telecommuting, flextime, job-sharing, and part-time options designed to promote employee mobility and a versatile work environment

Ÿ New-mother phase-in programs to ease the return to work after the birth of a baby, adoption of a child or placement of a child for foster care

Ÿ Backup dependent care program helps arrange — and pay for — backup care for a child or dependent elder

Ÿ Wellness programs provide preventive care resources, nutrition counseling, stress management coaching, and on-site fitness centers or discounts to local gyms

The Working Mother 100 Best Companies application includes more than 650 questions on the availability of benefits such as flexible work schedules, paid time off and leaves of absence, work-life programs and wellness initiatives.  For more information on the award criteria, visit workingmother.com.
