Zanies, legendary beer hall coming to Rosemont

Zanies Comedy Night Club and Hofbrauhaus beer hall will be coming soon to Rosemont’s new restaurant and entertainment district, while work begins next month on the village’s outlet mall.

The village board Wednesday approved the Park at Rosemont’s final two lease agreements, and gave the green light for start of construction on the 550,000-square-foot outlet mall housing 120 mostly high-end retail stores.

The proposed 20,000-square-foot beer hall will be modeled after the 400-year-old Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany. It will include a 5,000-square-foot outdoor beer garden. The comedy club will likely seat 300 people.

“We are excited because what we’ve been dreaming about for so long is finally coming together,” Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens said in a news release Thursday. “This is a one-of-a-kind shopping, restaurant and entertainment complex and by far the largest single economic development project in the entire Chicago area.”

The combined $300 million entertainment district and outlet mall projects are expected to generate nearly 4,000 jobs.

“Our goal is to create as many new jobs as there are residents in Rosemont,” Stephens said in the statement.

Other notable future tenants of The Park at Rosemont, which is anchored on one end by Muvico, include Toby Keith’s “I Love This Bar & Grill,” King’s Bowling, Taverna Opa, The Park Tavern, Adobe Gilas and an authentic Irish pub.

The district, which includes 200,000 square feet of entertainment, dining, and festival space, is expected to open next spring. The complex will feature a recreational area for year-round events, including ice skating, farmers’ markets, concerts, fairs, festivals and exhibition sporting events.

The ice rink, which was in a temporary location last year, will be reopened this winter during construction.

Meanwhile, a new exit ramp off the Tri-State Tollway at Balmoral Avenue, aimed at providing better access to the complex, is expected to open in November.
