A few FedExCup numbers to digest

Even though there’s not supposed to be much math in sports beyond the scoreboard, sadly there is.

Everywhere.

That’s especially true in the FedExCup playoffs.

Thanks to the PGA Tour, we have some numbers for you that are relatively easy to digest when it comes to the 70-man BMW Championship field and what they need to do to advance to the playoff-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta:

타 Based on last year’s points needed to reach East Lake, the top 21 in points going into this year’s BMW Championship should be safe to maintain their positions inside the top 30.

타 Anyone ranked 7th or better can potentially over take the No. 1 spot in FedExCup points by winning the BMW.

타 Anyone in the field can potentially move inside the top 5 by winning the BMW.

타 Anyone ranked 27th or better will likely move inside the top 5 with a 2nd or better finish.
