Aretha Franklin, ice show free for Hoffman Estates residents

Hoffman Estates residents can obtain free ticket vouchers for Aretha Franklin’s upcoming appearance at the Sears Centre Arena during the “Fashion on Ice” event.

“Fashion on Ice” takes place Saturday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at the arena, 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway. Besides the “Queen of Soul,” the event will feature Olympic and world-class figure skaters and top fashion designers.

Franklin will perform numbers from her new album, “A Woman Falling Out of Love” and close the show with her all-time greatest hit, “Respect.” Joining her are Olympic and national medalists Sarah Hughes, Johnny Weir, Jeremy Abbott, Ryan Bradley, Alissa Czisny, Mary Beth Marley, Rockne Brubaker, Sasha Cohen, Joannie Rochette and newly crowned world ice dancing champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

Village residents interested in free ticket vouchers can pick them up at the front counter of Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Residents need to present a valid driver’s license or state ID in order to receive the vouchers.

The voucher does not constitute an admission ticket. They must be redeemed at the Sears Centre Arena box office for actual tickets to the event. The free tickets do not include the cost of parking.
