Wonder Lake sex offender faces child pornography charges

A 25-year-old Wonder Lake man who is a registered sex offender has been charged with numerous counts of possession of child pornography, according to police.

After receiving information that Lance R. Portzen was in possession of child pornography, a McHenry County Sheriff’s Department search of his residence seized numerous photographs and videos of children under the age of 18, according to police.

Portzen, of the 5300 block of Hilltop Drive, was also charged with violating the state’s Sex Offender Registration Act because he had not provided the sheriff’s office with a current telephone number.

Search warrants were served on Portzen’s residence, vehicle, computers and digital media storage devices, resulting in 10 counts of possession of child pornography, according to police.
