Inmate appeals denial of new trial in 1991 killing

BLOOMINGTON — Lawyers for a man convicted of murder in a 1991 central Illinois killing have appealed a judge’s decision denying him a new trial. The attorneys say a key piece of their argument will come from a former Bloomington police officer now in prison.

The Pantagraph in Bloomington reports ( http://bit.ly/o3mrlw ) Jamie Snow’s attorneys argue former officer Jeff Pelo can discredit a key witness who said he saw Snow leaving a gas station where 18-year-old William Little was killed.

Pelo is serving a 375-year sentence on four rape convictions. He was the first officer on the scene.

Snow is serving a life sentence in Little’s death. Snow’s lawyers have argued many witnesses have recanted their testimony.

A judge in April denied him a new trial.
