Girls tennis

Stevenson 6, Carmel 1: Stevenson won every match besides the No. 1 singles match. Freshman Brienne Minor of Carmel defeated Kaylin Dang in that match, 6-1, 6-0. The Patriots got a win out of Zoe Manion in the No. 2 singles match while Stevenson’s Lexxi Kiven and Kendall Kirsch won the No. 1 doubles match over Michelle Konnenberg and Kathleen Felicelli, 6-0, 6-1. The Patriots are now 11-1 on the season.

Vernon Hills 5, Lake Forest Academy 3: Vernon Hills won three of four singles matches to get a victory over Lake Forest Academy. Amy Sebastian of Vernon Hills defeated Dani Mendoza 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match while Elizabeth Borgman of Vernon Hills defeated Grace Kasten in the No. 2 singles match, 2-6, 6-4, 10-3.

Cary-Grove 5, Lake Zurich 2: Cary-Grove swept all four singles matches. Lake Zurich was led by its No. 2 doubles team of Emily Leahy and Gabi Bendfeldt, who got a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over Becky King and Emily Scott.

Boys golf

Richmond-Burton d. Grayslake North: Richmond-Burton won the match, 171-184 at Nippersink. Scott Wonsil led Grayslake North with a 45.

Girls golf

Stevenson d. Libertyville: Stevenson got a 168-182 victory. Stephanie Miller and Nikki Marquardt led Stevenson, each finishing with a 37. Camilla Ou led Libertyville with a 39. The Wildcats dropped their first match of the season and are now 7-1.

Warren d. Lake Zurich: Warren got a 194-208 victory. Rachel Berzin finished with a 44 for Warren while Megan Malcolm led Lake Zurich with a 48.

Girls cross country

Antioch d. Grant: Despite a first-place finish by Lindsey Lewis (20:41), Grant fell to Antioch, 21-40. Antioch’s top finisher was Ashley LaPointe, who placed second with a 22:13. Antioch boasted seven of the top nine finishers.

Vernon Hills wins: Vernon Hills won a meet involving Round Lake and Wauconda. Wauconda took second place. Vernon Hills swept the top three places, led by Danielle Fiarito, who finished with a 20:31. Wauconda’s top finisher was Lexi Brunn (21:43), who finished in fourth place.

Boys cross country

Grant d. Antioch: Thanks to a sweep of the top three places, Grant got a 23-33 victory over Antioch. Peter Audrain led the way for the Bulldogs. He placed first with an 18:02. He was followed by Jorge Castila (18:27) and Trent Petero-Clarke (18:56). Cade England was Antioch’s top finisher in fourth place with a 19:35.

Round Lake wins: Round Lake won a meet involving Vernon Hills and Wauconda. Round Lake got a first place out of Juan Carrera (16:50) and a third place out of Sergio Martinez (17:12). Vernon Hills’ top finisher was Kyle Whitney, who placed second with a 17:01. Wauconda’s David Carter took tenth with an 18:09.
