Mt. Prospect waitress was local legend

Your recent article on the closing of a Mount Prospect restaurant landmark, Little America, struck us by what it reported almost as much as what it did not report. I didn’t read a single line about one loyal employee, Barbara DelPrincipe, who has been there for over 30 years.

Barb’s customers patronized Little America for the kind, prompt and always courteous service she provided. She felt they were her friends rather than paying customers, and some were like family.

Barb stayed through good times and bad, retiring along with Little America without ever having hospitalization, dental or more than likely without severance, though she paid for her own personal health policy. A few years back, Barb scalded her arm while working and never missed a day, complained or charged her employers the medical bills because she valued her job and it is not in her nature to be self serving, although she still carries the scars.

She exemplifies what dedication is all about and Little America was lucky to have her. So, we salute you, Barb, for your perseverance and loyalty. We know this to be fact, because we are her sisters and this one is for you, Barb!
