Buffalo Grove seeking new park board member

Buffalo Grove Park District Commissioner Jeff Weiss has resigned from the post he was first appointed to in 2010.

Weiss replaced his wife Martha on the board. He was then elected to the office in April 2011. Martha Weiss had served from 1988 to August 2010, when she took a job with the state that didn’t allow her to hold office. District officials said Jeff Weiss resigned near the end of this August for “personal reasons.”

The district is seeking applications from residents who would be interested in serving until 2013, when the next municipal election occurs. Then the final two years of the seat will be open for vote again.

Anyone interested is urged to call Executive Director Dan Schimmel at (847) 850-2109. The applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. Sept. 21. They are on the website bgparks.org, under the category of information and on the board of commissioners page.
