Sept. 11 symphonic remembrances

Several classical musical ensembles will present special concerts of remembrance Sunday to mark the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Ÿ New music is the main focus of the Fulcrum Point New Music Project's concert “9/11: Ten Years & Beyond,” but the performance also features traditional songs and prayers from the Buddhist, Christian, Islamic and Jewish faiths. Ÿ The City of Elgin brings together the Elgin Choral Union, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and soloists from Elgin Opera for “A Concert of Remembrance” featuring Brahms' “German Requiem” and John Adams' Pulitzer Prize-winning Sept. 11 piece “On the Transmigration of Souls” at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin. $25-$50. History comes alive

Hundreds of re-enactors from the North West Territory Alliance bring the Revolutionary War to life again at Cantigny's 25th Annual Revolutionary War Reenactment at the park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. Redcoats and patriots will engage in battles on Cantigny's Parade Field, complete with cannon and musket fire. Battles will be narrated from the sidelines.
