Ten years ago, on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, the world watched in horror as planes hijacked by terrorists crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

We watched as the towers burned, one for 56 minutes, the other 102. And were riveted during the heart-stopping 12 seconds it took them to fall.

And we struggled to grasp the news that the attack on the World Trade Center was only half the story. Before the day was out, we learned that two other planes were hijacked and crashed, one into the Pentagon, another in a Pennsylvania field.

In the months that followed, we mourned the deaths of nearly 3,000 people who died. We were outraged and sought justice against al-Qaida, which organized and executed the attacks.

Forever changed, Americans will gather across the country Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary in ceremonies both big and small.

On this Web page, we will be showing live streaming video from The Associated Press of the national celebrations and news. When there is no live coverage, other 9/11-related video will be shown.
