Nurse accused of cursing at, shaking disabled 3-year-old

A McHenry nurse has been charged with aggravated battery after the mother of a disabled 3-year-old saw the woman curse at and shake her child inside their home. Bail was set at $15,000 for Annette M. Freels, who is a registered nurse and was providing home health care for the three-year-old. Full story.

Suspect in custody after fatal Palatine stabbing

Charges could be filed today against a 29-year-old suspect in Palatine Police custody after a Monday night stabbing in which a 22-year-old Palatine man was killed. Eduardo Guillen-Tellez died after an altercation over money owed for a broken TV set. Full story.

At least 515 Arlington Heights residents have reported flooding problems in or near their homes on July 23, Scott Shirley, director of Public Works, reported last night. Injury-prone Peavy still pitching?

Notre Dame swaps QBs for game vs. Michigan

All it took was one half of football to knock Notre Dame senior quarterback Dayne Crist from the reigns of the Irish offense. Coach Brian Kelly announced yesterday that sophomore Tommy Rees will start against rival Michigan under the lights in Ann Arbor Saturday.
