Two charged in Naperville Tennis Club burglary

Two men face felony burglary charges after Naperville police said they were apprehended Sunday while fleeing from the Naperville Tennis Club.

Police said they responded at 4:34 a.m. to a burglar alarm in the 1100 block of East Benton Avenue and found the club’s rear door had been forced open. They said the two men, both wearing hoods and masks, were still inside.

As more officers arrived to surround the club, the two men ran in different directions, authorities said, and were caught after brief chases.

Police said they recovered cash and other items they believe the men took during the burglary.

Investigators say they believe one of the men has links to a swim club burglary in south Naperville. Police are trying to determine if either or both was involved in other swim club burglaries.

Charged in connection with Sunday’s burglary are Jonathan M. Klimek, 21, of 455 Millcreek Court, Naperville, and Philippe A. Ayala, 25, of 2169 Walcott Road, Aurora.

Bail was set at $50,000 for each man, police said.
