Elgin

Ÿ Carlos Guzman, 23, of the 0-99 block of Longwood Place in Elgin, appeared in bond court Tuesday on a felony charge of failure to stop and a misdemeanor charge of driving while license suspended, according to court documents. Elgin police arrested Guzman Monday for failing to stop his vehicle in the 2100 block of Royal Boulevard in Elgin, an accident that caused someone personal injury, reports said. Bail was set at $7,500, of which Guzman must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled for Sept. 12 in St. Charles.

Ÿ Shawn L. Unseld, 20, of the 500 block of South Edison Street in Elgin, appeared in bond court Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge of retail theft, according to court documents. Police responded Monday to Target, 300 S. Randall Road in Elgin, based on reports of the theft of about $65 worth of merchandise, documents said. Bail was set at $1,000, of which Unseld must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled for Sept. 16 in Elgin.

Ÿ A woman took 18 cans of baby formula without paying for them at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from Target, 300 S. Randall Road in Elgin, according to police reports. The same woman stole nine cans on Aug. 26, for a total value of more than $400 for all 27 cans, reports said. No one was charged in the theft at the time of the report.

Ÿ An Elgin woman reported unauthorized debit card transactions from Aug. 19 and 25 totaling more than $600, according to police reports. The account is accumulating overdraft charges and the woman told police the only other cardholder for the joint account is in jail and couldn’t have made the purchases, reports said.

Ÿ Four 24-hour cameras that were set up to find deer to hunt were stolen between 2:52 p.m. Aug. 26 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday from the 39W800 block of Tower Hill Road near Gilberts, according to sheriff’s reports.

Ÿ A radio was stolen between Sept. 1 and 8:30 a.m. Sunday from a mobile trailer at Christ Community Church, 37W1000 block of Bolcum Road near St. Charles, reports said.
