Death of Decatur teen is 7th homicide in 4 months

DECATUR — Authorities in Decatur are investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old girl that is the city’s seventh homicide in just over four months.

Police say the teen was shot multiple times in an attack late Saturday that also wounded two adults and a 15-year-old girl.

Macon County Coroner Michael Day tells the (Decatur) Herald & Review that Mishyra Wheeler was killed by massage damage to the lungs and heart.

Deputy Police Chief David Dickerson says all four victims were at a Decatur home when someone came up to the front porch and opened fire. Police are still investigating.
