Ÿ Five vehicles were burglarized between Sept. 2-4, police said. Burglars shattered the passenger-side window of a black 2011 Honda Civic parked at a fitness club at 320 E. Golf Road and removed a black coach purse worth $100 containing ID, credit/debit cards and $50 cash; entered an unlocked gray 2010 Toyota Corolla in a driveway in the 700 block of West Lynwood Avenue and removed a GPS valued at $163 from the center console; entered the unlocked silver 2009 Subaru Outback in a driveway in the 2200 block North Verde Street and removed the Garmin GPS valued at $75; entered an unlocked black 2010 Dodge Caliber parked in the 600 block of South Highland Avenue and removed a black Oakley backpack from the back seat (the backpack worth $50 contained a Toshiba Laptop worth $500, keys and other items); and entered an unlocked black Chevy Impala in the 2300 block of North Huron and removed a TomTom GPS worth $100 and a cellphone, leaving behind other items of greater value.

Ÿ Thieves stole a green 2005 Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle valued at $3,500 from a lot at Xsport Fitness, 960 W. Dundee Road, between 6 and 7:24 p.m. Sept. 5.

Ÿ Thieves stole a red 1999 Ford Explorer out of a service lot at Engine Depot, 1925 S. Arlington Heights Road, on an unknown date but reported Sept. 6. Value was estimated at $2,000.

Ÿ Burglars pried a safe but could not open it at Oberweis, 9 E. Dundee Road, between 11:31 p.m. Aug. 31 and 8 a.m. Sept. 1.

Des Plaines

Ÿ Burglars stole an iPod, two speakers and an amplifier out of a 2001 Dodge Intrepid on the 1400 block of Riverview Avenue between 11 p.m. Aug. 31 and 5:05 p.m. Sept. 1. Value was estimated at $1,135.

Ÿ Burglars cut a chain-link fence at a ComEd substation, 1101 Seegers Road, between 2 p.m. Aug. 31 and 9:20 a.m. Sept. 1, entered an unlocked 2008 Dodge pickup truck and stole two hydraulic punch driver sets, two hammer drills, a press, two drive set tool kits, a reciprocating saw, grinder, two personal gear bags with ComEd uniforms, and miscellaneous tools. Value was estimated at $6,200.
