Relatives found weeks after Muncie man’s death

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Relatives of a 61-year-old man who died in a Muncie apartment in July have finally been found.

An aunt of David Charles Becker contacted the funeral home holding his ashes after she was alerted to an obituary notice in his hometown of Evansville. Delaware County officials began looking for Becker’s family after he was found dead of natural causes on July 13.

Barbara Garnett of Bardstown, Ky., tells The Star Press (http://bit.ly/o1bQls ) it had been at least six years since she had heard from her nephew and that he often moved around the country.

Garnett is arranging for Becker’s burial in an Evansville cemetery next to his late brother.

The newspaper reports Becker’s father was a city councilman in Evansville who was the namesake of the city’s Ray Becker Parkway.
